DP PAPER – Designphil Pocketbook Paper
DP Paper is the original refill paper for ring-bound notebooks that condenses many stories of its making. “DP Paper” is an abbreviation for “Designphil Pocketbook paper”, a specially formulated notebook paper made for PLOTTER. The density of the paper material is increased for durability and daily use. Yet it retains a thin and light texture (60gsm) to fit into the slim profile of PLOTTER Leather Binders. We hope that each writer’s creativity will resonate across this sheet of paper.

The starting point of DP paper
Like leather, paper needs the blessing of nature in the form of water, and there is nothing better than clean water. The source of the water used in the manufacturing process of DP Paper comes from the mountains of the Japanese Alps. In addition to water, the paper is made from pulp of wood chips. To develop a high-quality paper for refills that we, as writers, demand, we experimented countless times to come up with the perfect ratio of softwood pulp and hardwood pulp.

DP Paper for PLOTTER ring leather binders
A system organizer is made of leather and has metal rings. At this point, the organizer is already heavy, but we wanted to make the paper that is as thin and light as possible. After all, a notebook is a tool for writing, and it is also a tool that we carry around. On the other hand, the paper’s durability must be important – the paper must be resistant to tearing even when placed between hard rings of various sizes. If we do not confront the contradictory development conditions, the result will be simply unsatisfactory for those who write on paper. As a result, we create a paper that is lightweight but also prevents ink from bleeding through or smearing when writing.

Thorough dedication of paper makers
Once the recipe has been decided upon, the pulp is beaten, paper is made, dried, and rolled up, all in the blink of an eye. Since the papermaking process cannot be stopped in the middle of production, the care that must be taken in the preliminary arrangements and quality checks is immeasurable. Although DP Paper now boasts stable quality, last-minute quality checks are still indispensable every time additional paper is made. Each time we look at a complete refill, we feel deeply moved. The final product took shape thanks to the blessings of nature and the skills of so many people involved in the process.
