Predator in Amber color is an original leather collaboration by PLOTTER with Horween Leather Company based in Chicago, Illinois. This special leather is also the iconic leather featured at PLOTTER TOKYO, PLOTTER’s first flagship store based in Tokyo, Japan. Predator leather by Horween is a combination tanned leather that blends the durability of a chrome-tanned base with a heavy vegetable re-tannage. The leather is incorporated with a rich blend of waxes to create a cohesive and tonal expression. Natural scuffs and marks are part of its charm. Neither purely brown nor orange, its evolving tones over time emulate the rich glow of aged amber, hence the name. Paired with a rose gold backplate, the leather evokes a sense of wildness and adventure. The more you use it, the more the leather will burnish over time to create a rich patina.

Mini is a compact size for creatives who would like to take notes anytime, anywhere. The portable size is designed for you to carry it in your bag, back pocket, or purse. Whenever inspiration strikes or an idea comes to mind, you can easily record it using the Mini size leather binders.

Point 1: The design of the leather binder allows the pages to lay flat and open to more than 180 degrees, so it is flexible and easy to use in any environment.

Some people enjoy the contours of the leather against the ring hardware as the leather becomes supple over time. However, we recommend using a Leather Ring Supporter if you want to slow down that effect.

Note: The backplate is made of brass and plated with rose gold color. Plating may come off due to friction and will exhibit the natural oxidation and discoloration of the brass material. Please enjoy the natural aging of the brass characteristic alongside the leather. We recommend inserting no more than 80 pages of PLOTTER original DP refill paper to ensure the longevity and functionality of the hardware.

A creative collaboration between PLOTTER and Horween Leather Company

America, with its own distinct leather culture and history unlike that of Italy, is home to the iconic tannery Horween Leather Company, known for continually producing one-of-a-kind materials. In the spring of 2023, the PLOTTER team, who have long admired HORWEEN's philosophy and craftsmanship, finally realized the dream of visiting the tannery. After more than two years of development, an original collaboration leather “Predator” is now ready to be unveiled at PLOTTER TOKYO.

A distinct expression for leather lovers

The Predator leather by Horween is a favorite among shoemakers for its rich blend of waxes and aging characteristics. The leather is packed with everything that leather lovers can't get enough of: aging, oil, a subtle pull-up, and more. Horween named this leather “Predator” as a symbol of “strength,” “ruggedness,” and “durability.”

The significance of the color Amber

The original color “Amber” is a unique hue: not quite brown and not quite orange. However, it evokes a rustic and wild expression for those who enjoy the feel and look of sturdy leather. PLOTTER team was originally inspired by the orange pillars and machinery seen throughout Horween’s historic tannery, which matches PLOTTER’s inspirational color. The hue is then adjusted to reflect the iconic look of natural leather, resulting in the final finish. Just like amber, fossilized tree resins that withstand years of change, the color of the leather will continue to grow with the user's thoughts and feelings.

An icon for PLOTTER TOKYO Flagship Store

The “Predator” leather in Amber color, a collaboration with HORWEEN, will become the iconic leather of the PLOTTER flagship store. PLOTTER TOYO opened its door in the heart of Harajuku, Tokyo, on September 23^rd, 2025, inviting guests, local and global, to experience the worldview of PLOTTER. The shop concept is “Connecting Through Creative Communication: A Special Place Where PLOTTERS Connect Through Creative Communication.” By linking the three Cs of “Connect,” “Creative,” and “Communication,” it aims to bring creative products and ideas to life in a tangible way. The collaboration between Horween Leather Company and PLOTTER is a prime example of such a creative project.

PLOTTER’s Mini size is a compact and portable iteration of our iconic leather binders. The dimension is small enough to fit into most jacket pockets, purses, and even slim enough for pant pockets.
