The California Pen Show has concluded smoothly over a sunny weekend in Los Angeles from February 14 – 16. The California Pen Show is an annual show that attracts pen enthusiasts and stationery lovers from across the West Coast. It also holds an important place in the PLOTTER USA team’s heart, the location local to where our headquarters is based. It was exciting for us to bring our array of PLOTTER products to meet fans face-to-face for the third year in a row. Despite the drizzle on the opening day of the show, attendees visited the PLOTTER USA tables, eager to explore our wide array of leather binders and event-limited items.
One of the highlights of the California Pen Show was being able to showcase the PLOTTER Limited 6-Ring Leather Binder in Unevenly Dyed Cordovan. In past events, we were able to introduce this luxurious ROCADO Horse leather in a smaller 3-Ring Leather Binder, but at the California Pen Show, we had the chance to share the larger A5 Size Leather Binders in the iconic Unevenly Dyed Cordovan Leather. Fans enjoyed seeing the expressive colors of these binders, each unique due to the hand-dyeing process. The standout colorway was the luscious Wine variation, but PLOTTERs also loved the unique look of the Blue and Green colorways! For fans who enjoyed the Unevenly Dyed Cordovan leather and were looking for something in a smaller form factor, the 3-Ring Leather Binder version was a great option.
Another special item featured at the California Pen Show is the event-exclusive PLOTTER Pueblo Leather Binder in Mini 5 Square, available in Wine and Purple colors. The PLOTTER USA team enjoyed seeing fans set up their Mini 5 Square Leather Binders for the first time, opting to accessorize their new binders with various refills like the Fastener Case, Band with Penholder, and Band with Lifter, among the reliable Refill Memo Pads.
In the spirit of the pen show, the PLOTTER USA team also showcased the special PLOTTER × CARAN D’ACHE 849 Ballpoint Pens. The collaboration was launched in Tokyo, Japan in December 2024 to commemorate a new pop-up store event for both brands. These stylish writing tools in Black and Rose Gold reflect PLOTTER’s design philosophy, and the pops of Rose Gold in both colorways of the pen are a nod to PLOTTER’s iconic Liscio Leather Binders and their Rose Gold backplates. These pens were popular with PLOTTER fans who embodied the inscription on these pens, “PLOTTER is a creator with imagination.”
At the California Pen Show, the team displayed a variety of sizes for new and existing users to hold and compare in person. At our tables, you can handle leather swatches to feel the texture and see the expression of leather patina in different styles and colors.
The PLOTTER A5 Size was popular among fans who were looking to create and plan on a larger scale. Users appreciated the larger writing space that the PLOTTER A5 Size affords, and it was so exciting to see how users were using their A5 Size Leather Binders for their creative projects!
PLOTTER in Bible Size is a constant favorite among PLOTTER users. The personal size is great for schedule planning and still offers space for spontaneous writing. We showcased examples of how you can utilize a PLOTTER in Bible Size for daily journaling and food logs as well.
The PLOTTER Mini and Mini 5 sizes were popular at the California Pen Show for their pocketable dimension. New users and returning fans enjoyed how portable the Mini 5 Size is and how easy it is to toss in their bags, purses, and even clothing pockets. PLOTTERs are often people who create on the go, and it was great to see so many users toting around their PLOTTER Leather Binders wherever they go.
While PLOTTER fans initially came to the PLOTTER USA tables to shop in the mornings, many users came back in the afternoon to try the PLOTTER Corner Hardware Customization service.
PLOTTER users had a chance to customize their Leather Binders by adding corner hardware in either matte gold, silver, rose gold, or black hardware to their PLOTTER. This customization is an aesthetically pleasing way to accentuate the corners of PLOTTER Leather Binders, especially for those who bring their PLOTTER on the go.
The gold corner hardware was particularly popular, and rose gold was a close second; many fans who purchased the PLOTTER A5 Size Leather Binders in Unevenly Dyed Cordovan Leather chose Rose Gold to accentuate the corners.
The California Pen Show continues to be an exciting event for PLOTTER USA staff each year. We love seeing different PLOTTER fans share and showcase their PLOTTER Leather Binders to other fans and even new or prospective users. By flipping through the pages, we are inspired by the creativity of PLOTTERs and how they utilize these creative tools.
PLOTTER USA team is excited to take this inspiration and learning to our next event in March – we’ll be headed to Chicago Stationery Fest from March 22nd – 23rd, 2025; we look forward to seeing you there!
